is a crustpunk band from Isigawa, Japan, formed in 1989 in reaction to the treatment of
and vivisection in particular, as well as the rush of technology in Japan. The band's discography includes a multitude of splits and eps available through Asada's label, D.I.Y Records. Note that, true to the D.I.Y. spirit, none of these products has been released on CD.
is the story of an uncompromising band. Since their debut eighteen years ago, the group, among the pioneers of the Japanese Crust scene, have remained known for their unwavering commitment to all forms of animal cruelty and their aversion to
weapons and technology.
no pose, no fine words: it's dirty, it's extreme, it sends the wood continuously, and above all it goes to the point. Everything is explicit, we know exactly where we are going, whether by the name of the album, the track titles ("In the
War", "Lost", "For
Animals", "Bloody Humans") or quite simply the name of the training. Musically, no surprise either, the band stays true to their swift, Noise-tinged Crust /
Punk Hardcore which inevitably evokes
Amebix, and which crystallizes all the gnak of a bunch of ultra-committed guys who will never give up. The production is yucky, the sound is messy, the tracks are almost identical to each other, but the whole thing is so fascinating that it becomes impossible to miss it.
In the
War, it's the story of an explosion of rage against this shitty world ruled by humans, this hated race that wanders aimlessly ("Lost") and knows only violence ("In the
War"), feeling powerful to inflict the worst horrors on those she considers inferior ("For
Animals") and who, for that, deserves only annihilation ("Bloody Humans"). This record, which does not reach ten minutes, is a thrill, a flicker of the eyelid, an intense microsecond in which everything is said, straight in the face, fist in the air and rage in my stomach. During such a short period of time, the group goes to the end of itself, beyond the blackest hatred, until they are consumed in a shower of sparks that taste like sulfur and tears.
Battle of Disarm enters with this disc in the pantheon of the biggest groups of Crust of Japan, even of the genre as a whole. In the
War is a festering bubo oozing hatred and extreme violence that teaches many a lesson in intensity. Even today, the group sets an example by continuing their
fight with the same firmness, until the end.
